Ponte Family Estate Winery seeks a Host/Hostess to be the first face our guests see by greeting our guests to their dining experience. The Host/Hostess is responsible for accommodating the seating preferences and group requirements of the guests in a quick and efficient manner while providing exceptional service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • To ensure guest satisfaction and profitability is maximized at every opportunity.
  • To uphold professional standards of excellence and set an example to all other associates at all times.
  • Answer the Restaurant telephone line with a smile, assisting the guests with any requests and return phone messages promptly.
  • Greet guests with a smile and respond quickly to requests in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Take guest information and provide accurate estimate of wait time ensuring guest requests are accommodated.
  • Seat guests in a timely consistent manner, keeping in mind the balance of guest flow in the restaurant.
  • Offer a menu to the guests upon seating them and inform them of their servers name.
  • Accurately monitor the wait list. Ensuring that Wine Club members get preferential seating.
  • Communicate information to bussers and servers regarding anything needed to ensure the guests’ satisfaction is exceeded.
  • Thank the guests for coming and invite them to return.
  • Efficiently take orders and payment for all winery Associate lunches.
  • Perform any other tasks as requested by the Restaurant manager or assistant manager.
  • Understand and adhere to environmental standards set by the winery.
  • To be able to work well under pressure and to complete all assigned tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
  • To maintain a clean work environment and uphold all Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Always have higher expectations for service levels.
  • Be confident in taking the lead in any guest issues that may arise during your shift and communicate these to your Manager immediately.
  • Set the example of excellence in standards to other Associates at all times.
  • Ensure that all duties are carried out before the end of shift.
  • Assist fellow Associates with additional job duties as business dictates and is required.
  • Understands and adheres to the Ponte values and service standards.

Experience and Skills:

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED (General Education Diploma)
  • Minimum of 6 months hosting experience.
  • Fluent in English


  • Excellent communication skills
  • Has attention to detail and the ability to follow direction and abide by standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to focus for an entire shift, trouble shooting and prioritizing skills.


  • Hospitality/Food and Beverage industry background and experience.
